Write answers, not brochures
The most common reason an AI engine ignores a CRE website is that nothing on it answers a question.
The rewrite, line by line
| Brochure | Answer |
|---|---|
| "Full-service commercial real estate solutions" | "Tenant representation, landlord representation and investment sales for industrial property in Phoenix" |
| "Unparalleled market knowledge" | "We have closed 60+ industrial leases in the Southeast Valley since 2019" |
| "Client-focused approach" | "We work with manufacturers and 3PLs relocating between 20,000 and 250,000 SF" |
Only make claims you can stand behind. An invented transaction count is worse than a vague sentence, because it is quotable and wrong.
Structure that gets extracted
- One page, one question. A page trying to answer six questions answers none of them well enough to quote.
- Question-shaped headings. Write the heading the way a prospect would ask it.
- Answer in the first two sentences. Then explain. Do not build up to it.
- Add FAQ markup so the question and answer pair is machine-readable.
- Name entities explicitly — the market, the asset class, the firm name — instead of "we" and "the region".
The test
Read any sentence on your homepage out of context. If it could belong to any firm in the country, no engine has a reason to quote it for you. Our Blog Audit and AI Readiness Audit score pages for exactly this, and the AI Search Visibility Tester tells you whether the change reached the engines.

How do I write website copy that AI search engines will quote?
Answer one question per page, put the answer in the first two sentences, name the specifics (market, asset class, size range, firm name) instead of using generic adjectives, and add FAQ markup so the question and answer pair is machine-readable.
Why does AI ignore my commercial real estate website?
Usually because no page answers a question directly. Generic positioning copy cannot be extracted as an answer, so an engine has nothing to quote even when your firm is the right recommendation.
Should I use FAQ schema on a CRE website?
Yes, on pages that genuinely answer questions. It makes the pairing explicit for both search and AI engines. Do not mark up marketing copy as a question and answer when it is not one.
