Website Audit

The 15-minute website health check any CRE principal can run

Updated September 2026 · by DeshTEK Digital

You do not need an agency audit to find the things that quietly cost you deals.

Short answer: Six checks, about fifteen minutes, no tools required: open the site on your phone, confirm the SSL padlock is valid, submit your own contact form and confirm the email arrives, click your three newest listings, search your firm name plus your city, and ask an AI assistant what it knows about your firm. Anything that surprises you here is costing you enquiries.

The six checks

  1. Open the site on your phone (2 min). Most CRE traffic is mobile. Does it load quickly, and can you read it without pinching?
  2. Check the padlock (1 min). An expired certificate shows visitors a full-page security warning.
  3. Submit your own contact form (3 min). Broken forms are silent. Confirm the email actually arrives, and check the spam folder.
  4. Click your three newest listings (3 min). Sold or leased properties still showing as available cost credibility.
  5. Search your firm name plus your city (3 min). What ranks first — you, a directory, or a competitor?
  6. Ask an AI assistant about your firm (3 min). "What do you know about [firm]?" Wrong details here are visible to every prospect who asks.

What to do with what you find

Fix the broken form first: it is the only item on the list that loses a lead already trying to reach you. Stale listings come next, then the certificate. Search and AI results take longer to change, which is exactly why it pays to know where you stand before you start.

Frequently asked questions

How do I audit my commercial real estate website?

Start with six manual checks: mobile load, SSL certificate, contact form delivery, listing accuracy, a branded search, and what AI assistants say about the firm. Then run an automated audit that benchmarks speed, security and content against other CRE firms rather than generic web averages.

How often should a CRE firm check its website?

Run the fifteen-minute check monthly, and always after a site change, a rebrand or a new listing feed. Certificate expiry and form failures are the two problems that appear without warning.

Why does my contact form matter more than design?

Because a broken form loses prospects who have already decided to contact you. It is the highest-cost, lowest-visibility failure on a CRE website.
